Alternatives to new forums RRS feed

  • Question

  • Now that there are some real forums in new format, I can really compare with the old ones, and unfortunately I must say that no problems that I saw when evaluating beta appear to be fixed.

    So I have several questions
    1. Will we have alternative to new design? lean UI or offline reader?
    2. What is the badnwidth and browser recommended for the use with the new forums? IE7 with T1 is just too slow (not working) for me

Right now I must say that I consider current UI downright unusable (that includes impossible performance).

    1. There is an offline reader project on CodePlex from what I understand.
    2. That's surprising to me. Seems perfectly usable to me on my cable connection at home. Where about are you located? (In case geogeraphy has anything to do with it).

  • are you seeing consistently slow performance or is it sporadic?  I ask because we've had a few SQL brownouts which may have affected your experience.  I would expect that a T1 would have very good performance, very low latency channel, unless it is fractional.  I'm seeing ok performance on EDGE connections and quite good on 3mps DSL.
