Desktop/Application sharing ?

Question

Gee I hope this isn't a dumb question.
LCS 2005 allowed you to share applications - or the desktop. We have the beta version of OCS 2007 up & running but the OC 2007 client doesn't seem to have an application sharing feature

I installed the LiveMeeting add-one and "meet now with live meeting" becomes an option when you right-click on a contact in OC.
The setup for that was /standardedition/setup/i386/console/lmsetup.exe

I noticed the same thing. The function seems to be there in the live-meeting component, however. Maybe thats where it will be going forward?

The great thing about the old product was it used the 8-bit T.120 protocol which seemed pretty efficient to me in corporate networks.
However, IF live meeting is hosted internally then I can see the benefit.
Can I ask where you saw the live meeting component ? is there a client & server ?

Everything I've seen would indicate that.
The old desktop/apps sharing services use the T.120 protocol ( I think it's 8-bit ). I had head a long time ago that Microsoft were going to discontinue supporting it.
I can't remember what protocol the Live Meeting platform uses, but I think it's some variant of H.239. Happy to be corrected
Anyway, this allows for higher resolution & colour depth.
I've run some tests witht he live meeting product and it's actually a really nice product and I'm looking forward to putting it into production. When it goes general release of course

Yes, I made the same discovery as the others above. Going forward OCS will no longer support calling the old Net Meeting conf.exe executable since Vista does not support it. I would assume that is the same as the T.120 protocol mentioned above. This protocol made the initial meeting organizer the home for the meeting and limited the number of participants by the size of their computer. Switching to a server model vastly improves the number of participants and the meeting model.
I think somewhere in the documentation Microsoft needed to inform the Beta testers that the Data Sharing is no longer available unless you install the OCS Componenets (IIS server) and the Web Conferencing server. Also the client must install the Live Meeting Client and the optionally the Outlook addin. We have been on our own here to make this discovery. Also I wish someone from Microsoft would at least answer this thread in more detail about this transition. Thanks to this Beta testers for these answers, I hope any other testers out there that have made additional discoveries would participate and add to the forum whenever they can.
