Faailure to boot with 8gb memory RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a MSI 790FX-GD70 with 4gb of Corsair DDR3 1333 memory in two sticks, which boots fine. I purchased 4gb more of the exact same memory.  Now the computer will not boot Vail.  I can mix and match any of the memory sticks and as long as I stay at 4gb I am fine, but I get the Windows corrupt file window and it asks mt to repair but it keeps cycling back to that window.  It gives me no other choices.  The memory checks out fine with memory testers booted from cd's of flash drives.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

  • You may have a bad DIMM socket on the motherboard.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Hi is your bios up to date the latest for your board is 1.G, which may help

if you have purchased a single 4g memory strip make sure its in a separate memory bank by itself,  eg: put your first two into banks 1&2 and the 4 gig into bank 4 missing 3 out.
