Client HD/Partition revamping RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was basically wondering if this is possible:

I currently have the following configuration on one of my clients:

    HD 1: 250GB with 2 partitions (C: 50GB, D: 150GB)
    HD 2: 200GB with 1 partition  (G: 200GB)

I would like to upgrade my system with two new hard drives and put the system partition on a WD Raptor.  So the new config would be something like this:

    HD 1: 74GB with 1 partion (C: 74GB)
    HD 2: 500GB with 2 partions (D: 250GB, G: 250GB)

Would the restore of my backup from the original configuration work in this scenerio?  I know you can restore to a larger drive, but I was wondering if the repartioning of the drives would cause a problem.

    Thanks in advance.

  • You should be able to restore your current partitions to your new drives. But I haven't done exactly what you're suggesting, only replaced a single drive with a larger one and restored the only partition to it.
