I have followed all the steps on Update Problems - antivirus and spyware definitions OneCare? READ THIS by Stephen Boots. I have followed all the steps 1-4 (uninstall and reinstll) and did everything on the KB web page. I still have the problem. It keeps saying unable to update update. Is there anything else I can do?

  • This issue I have found is frustrating. Out of the box brand new vista on a brand new desktop and it immidietly will not update? In fact gives you an error message? and it is still unsolved, and being discussed?

This is basic microsoft. Why would you issue software which blocks it's own ability to update itself? This long list of ?possible? problems and their solutions is odd. The problem is the software, fix it.

What is the error you are getting and what is it that won't update? Are you referring to Windows Live OneCare or Windows Update? If it is the latter, you're off topic for this forum and should review the information here, as well as your support options -

  • windows live update fires up with the usual list of urgent actions to take. the one always in red is "turn on automatic updates". sure, why not, i want this feature to work. it has never worked. clicking on the "turn on" button gets you windows liveonecare cannot turn on updates at this time. please try again later.

  • Are Windows Updates actually turned off or is One Care falsely reporting Windows Update is turned off?

You may have an infected PC or a broken Windows Update.
