Manually Set Web Component URLs? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way to manually configure the Internal and External URLs used to access the Web component services?

Here's our problem - users running Communicator outside the firewall work fine while users inside the firewall receive the following error (exclaimation mark on Communicator sys tray icon):

Cannot synchronize the corporate address book.  This may be becuase the proxy server setting in your web browser does not allow access to the address book.  If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

The problem appears to be that external users are pointed at https://ocs.claritycon.com for the Web component services while internal users are pointed to https://clarityocs2.clarityinternal.net.  Both URLs resolve to the same site on the same server.  The SSL certificate we are using on that site is a wildcard cert for the claritycon.com domain, which explains why internal users can not sync the address book.  Pointing IE at the internal URL results in a cert warning which I assume prevents the Communicator client from connecting.

Is there any way to simply configure internal users to use the same URL as the external users?

I know I can work around this by getting an SSL cert with SANs for all required domains, but I don't want to spend $600 on another cert just to get the address book to sync.
