Notify conectivity WCF service

Question
-
Hello everyone,
we are developing application WinForms framework 3.0 + vs. 2005, which uses
WCF services (connects with NETTCP).
You want the aplication has a NotifyIcon in the taskbar, to indicate
whether it is possible to connect with the WCF service, if you can not change
that will connect icon notification.
Which is the best way to do this? some examples about it?
Should be making calls to WCF from time to time (timer, in another thread)
and determine whether they receive EndPointNotFoundException? or maybe there
is another way to a Listener port?
Greetings and thanks in advance
