"reference that cannot be resolved" error when running the crmsvcutil tool RRS feed

  • Have been running this tool for a while now.

    I have a new instance of CRM set up by a colleague but I get an error when I execute the tool.  It works fine on other instances at the moment.

    The error is: Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved.

    I turned on the tracing and can see some additional information:

    The maximum nametable character count quote (16384) has been exceeded while reading XML data.

    I haven't updated the crmsvcutil for a while so that might be a factor however this sounds like the schema of the installed apps is now to large to get a strong type file from?

    Anyone now how to cure this issue?

  • With your description I can see that a new Dynamics 365 instance is created. If not please correct me.

    If yes, Use the crmsvcutil from the latest SDK.

    I faced similar issue few days back. It worked me this way.

  • Compare the commands which you are running on different servers. There must a space some where. Secondly SSL is not enabled on both servers.
