certfication exam id for wpf RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am confused with new certification number for winform and wpf 4.0 using vs2010 .I found 70-511.

Earlier in .net 3.5 winform examid was 505 and wpf was different.now for both same exam id is available.what exactly are new examid for wcf,wpf and wf silverlight and application foundation(which was 436).are they same as 3.5?as per my knowledge one has to give only one exam and not two like 3.5 net framework.I did go through different links but not yet clear.

  • Hi,

For the Visual Studio 2010 certifications, here is the link to the page with details:http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/mcpd-certification.aspx

Briefly, for Windows based applications (this includes Winforms but is primarily WPF), the exam is #70-511 for the technology specialist exam (MCTS.) Fort the Pro level certifications (MCPD), you need to complete the 70-511, 70-513 (WCF), 70-516 (Data) and the 70-518 (Desgining and Developing) exams. Please note that Microsoft has already released the certication exams for the Visual Studio 2012 product. Many of the VS 2010 exams will retire in July of this year.

    Happy New Year!

  • Hi,

Sorry, I missed that part in your original post. The 70-536 exam was used for Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 exams. For Visual Studio 2010, there is no foundational exam.  The foundational content is included with other exams.

  • Hello srm_2010.

I suggest you to ask your question in the Training and Certification Forum at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/CertGeneral/threads.
I can move it there for you, if you want.

    Bye.

  • Well I do not understand why 70-536 the very foundation paper have been removed as it was
making a lot of sense to students for understanding .net framework as a whole(at least the necessary features such as threading, globalization, security, serialization etc) this is just my opinion as I am also MCT.which other exams deals with these topics any idea?

  • Hi Mike,

I am planning to enter for 70-511,WPF,WCF and will also go for the Data and Design & Developing. But I am wondering if I should wait untill after July 2013 in order to get the most and become a MCPD as not sure if its possible to complete all 4 before they expire...

For VS2012 the website is so confusing as I only see: MCSD:Windows Store Apps, MCSD:Web Applications, MCSD:Application Lifecycle Management and nothing about Visual Studio 2012.
I am clicking the "Developer" link on http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification-overview.aspx.

Could someone clarify if there will still be 4 exams similar to 70-511, 70-513 (WCF), 70-516 (Data) and the 70-518 (Desgining and Developing) once these expire on July 2013?

    Thanks very much.
