windows 7 not original warning RRS feed

  • i suddenly got a warning that my windows 7 version is counterfeit...but i've been updating it periodically ever since i got it 2 months ago. what could this mean?

    What did you get 2 months ago? - the PC, or the copy of Windows? For what version of Windows is the PC Licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case (or possibly inside the battery compartment)?
     
    If it's the copy of Windows, you were sold an OEM copy - did you realise this?
    If it's the PC, then you were probably sold one with a counterfeit installation of Windows.
     
    It's difficult to tell in this case, because your installation is onto a post-Win7 BIOS, but the SLIC table is not present at all.
    Have you perhaps updated the BIOS recently, with a non-compliant version?
     
    an OEM_NSLP System Builder license for such machines would normally mean that it's a Vista machine that was purchased within the 'free upgrade period' prior to the launch of Win7 - but your machine appears to be of later manufacture than would qualify.
     
    Your installation of Office is definitely non-genuine.
     
    Please let us know more of the history, so that we can properly advise you
