How to validate key for second use without downloading

  I just purchased Office Ultimate online.  I hope to download it to my laptop soon, but will hold off on downloading to my desktop, because I expect to buy a new one soon, and so, will save my second installation for that.

   

  Is there any way to ascertain from my Key whether either of the two uses have already been used?  I purchased the software online with the understanding that it was unused and valid, good to go... 

  In case there are problems with the purchase, I'd like to find out soon, rather than later, that both installations are still good.

  I'd hoped there'd be a location at MS Genuine where I could enter the key itself and ascertain whether it is good, and that neither of its allowable installations have been used.

   

  Can this be done?
