Money plus sunset periodically crashes after installing windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using windows 10 and free ms money plus.  Since switching to 10, I have frequent crashes in Money. It states that the program has to close but gives no reason or error code.  I have done the registry change to 00 but it crashed three times this am - does anyone have a fix for this?  I do not have any investment info being tracked either.  Does MS have a patch for this and where would it be?

    Thanks

  • The registry change is no longer needed.  But it is necessary to replace your mnyob99.dll file with a patched version.  See the first "sticky" therad in this forum:

If you need more explicit directions, see one of my posts in this thread:

Let us know if this solves your problem.

  • I haven't subjected myself to W10 yet, but I assume that it has analogous options.  In W7 I find the easiest way to get to the file to replace it is to put mnyob99 in the search box in the Start Menu.  Then right click on the first instance of mnyob99.dll that shows up and chose Open File Location.   This should open File Explorer (I think that's the W10 name for Windows Explorer) just where you can rename the existing file and copy the downloaded file in its place.

  • That second link I gave you has the details on how to do this.  And this link has even more detail:

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2768-file-explorer-options-open-windows-10-a.html

Once you get there, here is the process:

2- Enable Show Hidden Files in Folder Options

Click radio button to turn on Show hidden Files, folders, and drives

Turn off Hide Protected operating system files (Recommended)

3- Backup the original MNYOB99.DLL by renaming to MNYOB99.DLL.org

        C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Money Plus\MNYCoreFiles

    4 - Copy Download Patched MNYOB99.DLL to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Money Plus\MNYCoreFiles\MNYOB99.DLL
