Can not install new version of Windows Live

  I have 2 machines, one XP-home AMD 4800 X2 with 4 gig of ram, the other Vista 64 amd 5000 x2 with 8 gig of RAM.
  Both machines, when trying to install new version of windows live, go theough the install process, then without any prompting, both un-install windows live and give an error message, saying that I aborted the instillation.
  the error code given, again gives no information and the link it gives to follow does not answer the problem.
  
  HELP please
