Query Regarding Web Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Can anyone please elaborate on what exactly the following CWA settings mean:

    Public computer access timeout (minutes)
      Private computer access timeout (minutes)

The values for the above settings in Web Access installation on my system are 15 and 720.

Also is it possible to change the default values for the above settings?

    Thanks
      Sanjay

  • Sanjay,

I located the information in the cwa.chm file in the c:\program files\microsoft office communication server 2007\communicator web access\admin folder.

    Forms-based Authentication

If the virtual server is an internal site using built-in authentication, and you do not want to enable forms-based authentication, clear the Forms-based Authentication check box. However, some browsers, such as FireFox require forms-based authentication, and will not work for Communicator Web Access (2007 release) without it. Time-out settings are disabled for internal sites.

If the virtual server is an external site using built-in authentication, the Forms-based Authentication check box is selected by default, and cannot be changed. Integrated Windows Authentication is not available for external sites. You can set the following time-out

    settings for external sites:

In Public Computer Access time-out, type the number of minutes that a session on a public computer can remain idle until the session is automatically closed. The default is 15 minutes, and the range is 10 to 1,440 minutes.

In Private Computer Access time-out, type the number of minutes that a session on a private computer can remain idle until the session is automatically closed. The default is 240 minutes, and the range is 10 to 10,000 minutes.

Note   When signing in, the external user designates whether the computer is a public or private computer.

    Thanks,
