OFF TOPIC: Help on oledlg.dll problems RRS feed

  • General discussion

hi i am writing in for help. Recently my dell inspirion 1420 laptop crashed an when i started windows, i received the following error message for 5 of my programs.
c:\windows\system32\oledlg.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

All 5 programs are now not able to be started. Deleting and reinstalling them was of no use. System restore failed as well.

I wanted to try replacing the oledlg.dll file in the system32 folder but however was unable to replace the file due to administrator rights issues. Tho i am the administrator but i did not have the full permission. And i tried finding out how to log in as administrator for Vista Home Premium but in vain.

Please is there anyway to solve this problem as i use those programs regularly. Please help thank you!
