file conflicts RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am getting a file conflict message while trying to remove a hard drive from my media smart home server.  The conflict name is "The file exists".  There are eight files existing which are preventing the removal of the hard drive.  These files all end with ...twonkymedia.db\(file number).  Can anyone help me resolve this conflict so I can remove the hard drive?

  • I am not fully sure, but maybe you will have to stop the TwonkyMedia service (which belongs to an Add-On, delivered with some OEM Home Servers). Maybe this keeps the files open and therefore they cannot be relocated.

  • Thanks Olaf -- this worked for me on an HP MediaSmart. What was unexpected is that the TwonkyMedia service was running in the first place -- I don't use it, and I didn't expect the service to be running. But yes, turning it off made the problem go away, and thankfully, it didn't take very long at all to complete the removal after doing that.

  • That's sometimes the problem with OEM machines, that they are overloaded with features, which are used only by a minor part of users. I would also prefer to have a choice in first place here instead of having to remove all belongings of such unwanted stuff.
