?? about "edition" of OneCare recently purchased RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I purchased (from CompUSA--hasn't closed yet!) a new Live OneCare on 1-23-08 to replace the one I have -- (1) on the cover is written: "Service Desk Edition"--what does this mean?  -- (2) is that a different or "special" kind of edition of Live OneCare?  -- (3) what is the most recent edition number, and how can I tell if I have it?   (the back of the package cover states Microsoft 2007) -- thanks for any info -

  • It would be a copy to be used by techs to install on a customer PC. By the way, CompUSA was purchased by Systemax, so some stores and the web site may remain, though they may be rebranded.

If there is a product key inside the package, use that to renew your current subscription - no need to reinstall OneCare.

Go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your subscription LiveID. (Open OneCare and click help/about to view the subscription LiveID)

Select the OneCare subscription and click on the renew link.

Choose the option to renew with a prepaid PIN or token which is the retail product key.

Enter the 25 character key and proceed.

It can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare.

  • Oh, the latest version is 2.0. Any time you install OneCare, it will always be the latest available as it goes online to download the files to install.

  • I just bought Windows live onecare service desk edition, according to the recommendation of the sales person. The price was $149.95.00. Is this the right price? I just found out that the price for the regular edition is only $59.00.

  • What country are you located in? Pricing varies by country. In the US, the price for a retail copy is $49.95. You don't need the service desk edition, so exchange it.
