Hi all,
We have upgraded our PDC from sbs 2003 to sbs 2011 with a new domain name, all users and exchange inboxes have been migrated to the new domain , now we are going to disjon crm 2011 from old domain and rejoin it to the new domain , we have SQL 2008 and CRM 2011 installed on one box so we dont need to move our databases , can you please advise if you have done that before ? all suggestions are welcome ...
Thank you,
Peyman

It is ended up by reinstalling OS , SQL 2008 R2 and CRM:
1. Created temp organisation.
2. Restored MSCRM DB, not the mscrm_config
3. In deployment manager imported the organization from the restored database.
everything is up and running , thank you guys !- Edited by Peyman Jeyhani Friday, November 9, 2012 6:20 AM

Have a look at this article:
Import a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Organization
Essentially you'll need to back up your existing organization database and restore it to the new SQL Server, import it in Deployment Manager, and map the old AD users to the new AD users.

You shouldn't need to create a new database if you are reusing the same SQL Server (but back up everything just in case!!!) when you go through Deployment Manager to import the organization you should be able to point to the original database and then it will prompt you to map users. If you were changing SQL Servers you would need to back up from the old server and restore to the new server.
Your form customizations should be retained.

That would be the Deployment Manager Peyman.
Make sure you have Deployment Manager rights when doing this.

I joined the CRM server to the new domain , After making some changes to the registry as per microsoft instructions...When I run the deployment manager, I get this error message
"Only the deployment administrator are able to use deployment manager. You are not a deployment administrator"
The account that I am using has full access to CRM 2011 and can writes to AD. It is a domain administrator account.Friday, November 2, 2012 4:43 AM -
There might be somethnig in the MSCRM_CONFIG database that could be updated to fix it but it would probably be an unsuppoted change.
The way I would do it is to make a backup of the current MSCRM_CONFIG database.
Then uninstall CRM on your server.
Then drop the MSCRM_CONFIG database.
Then do a reinstall on CRM and just setup a new organisation called "Temporary" or something similar.
Then go into Deployment Manager and Import your original organisation & remap the users when you do the import.
Then delete the "Temporary" organisation.Friday, November 2, 2012 10:23 AM -
I uninstalled the CRM and tried to install it but during installation I am getting the following error message:
The "PrivReportingGroup" group is not specified.
Any idea?

During the installation you were prompted for an OU.
Look at that OU. Do you see the groups there.
If you kept on installing instances in the OU then there would be duplicates.
The installation process should create those groups.
I would remove or move those groups and do the install.
But even before that I would check my ability to comunicate with AD and have the rights with the installation account to create those groups in AD.

This is a new DC and this group is not exist in AD , the current user has this ability to create those groups in AD.

So you created an OU before the install, correct?
What is in that OU now?

That's correct, in that OU we have our computers, users , security groups and distribution groups .Thursday, November 8, 2012 2:10 AM
