  • I agree that we should have a template with preliminary questions that helps us efficiently identify issues with the Forums application. That said, I'll review the template that Jeff posted (Thanks Jeff !) and make revisions that solely targets the Forums Application.

    I cannot speak on behalf of the Forums team but in some of the projects I have worked on this type of template has been very useful.

    Bug Template

    Overview Description:

     <This should be a short one liner that captures the essence of the bug>

    Detailed Description:

     <More detailed expansion of summary>

    Steps to Reproduce:

     <The minimal set of steps necessary to trigger the bug. Include any special setup steps>

    Actual Results:

     <What the application did after performing the above steps>

    Expected Results:

     <What the application should have done>

    Browser and Platform:

     <OS type and version, hardware specific information>

    Build: 

     <Date &  Date and platform of the build that you first encountered the bug in>

    Additional Build and Platform Information:

     <Whether or not the bug takes place on other platforms or browsers>

     Example:
     
       Occurs On
         September 09 Platform release (Internet Explorer 8.0, Windows 7)

       Doesn't Occur On
          June 09 Platform release (Internet Explorer 8.0, Windows 7)

    Additional Information:

     <Any other debugging information. Stack Traces, Event Log entries, etc.>
