External connection cannot authenticate users in CRM 4.0 RRS feed

  • I have CRM 4.0 installed with Internet Facing Deployment, so I am accessing the CRM via the Internet at: http://myorg.mydomain.com:5555.

    Everything worked fine for a year or so until today, when the external link is showing me the login screen, but when I type my username/pass it says:

    “Cannot connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM server because we cannot authenticate your credentials. Check your connection or contact your administrator for more help.”

    The internal link http://localhost:5555 works fine..

    Please help!

  • It turned out that the Microsoft CRM Asynchronous Processing Service was stopped (no clue how this happened).
    Starting it fixed the problem.
