  • Hello Jimmyd1970,

Your mgadiag report is showing that your installation of Office is a Volume Licensing product, which is generally used in larger organizations.

Have you contacted your organization's tech support staff for assistance?

Or are you an individual consumer?

  • I understand volume licensing product, but I am an individual consumer.

  • Dan,

I've done some checking and hope it will help explain, maybe leading to a solution. I build my own computers and bought the Office software package as an OEM product. It was not represented to me as a volume licensing product. The package is definitely a Microsoft product -- I've seen ripoffs, and they have been pretty easy to spot -- and it's labeled OEM.

I also realize you are not a Microsoft representative. I thought these questions went to Microsoft, so I may be barking up the wrong tree.

  • What is the result when you visit Genuine Microsoft Advantage and click on Validate Office?

  • I get the generous offer to buy a "genuine" Office product at Microsoft's market price. No other help suggested.

I have decided to abandon Microsoft Office in favor of alternatives. This is the second time over several years Microsoft has failed me. The earlier time, I bought a "used" Office product and, when I received it, figured it was pirated. I notified Microsoft, gave them the information on the seller, and offered to help. They requested the bogus disks be shipped to them, and I did so. When I attempted to get from Microsoft confirmation that the disks were pirated or any other information that would help me get my money back from the seller, they were absolutely non-responsive. I tried to help them, they apparently felt no need to give me any help. Once burned, I learned. Submitting to a second round of punishment would be stupid on my part.

    Thanks for trying to help.
