Upgrade to Windows 8.1 creates multiple empty recovery partitions

See the attached screen image of Disk managemnt of my system.

What partitions are necessary? I cannot believe that 5 recovery partitions are required.

How do I get rid of the superfluousones?

are you talking about computer that is UEFI based or legacy BIOS based?

on UEFI computers there are 3 partitions after Windows 8.1 installation and it's normal
