overwriting of OS

    Question

  • Hi,

       I am using windows 7 along with windows 2008 server to run SAP in my laptop. But now i want windows XP to run IBM websphere. So plz advise me how can i replace windows  7 with XP so that my work will be done.

    This question should be asked in the Windows Answers Forum.
    Anyway, I can tell you that the only way to completely replace an installed operating system is installing another one that will overwrite the previous one, thus removing it and having a new, different OS installed and running (provided that you have the drivers to support the new OS).
    You wrote that you use Windows Server too: if the Server OS has been installed in a dual boot fashion, you'll have to install it again after replacing Windows 7 with Windows XP, because Windows XP will destroy the current boot sector and create a new one, thus erasing the entry that will allow Windows Server to be found and booted. In my opinion, if you absolutely need to install Windows XP, you could create a virtual machine and install Windows XP within.
