  • Question

  • My Version of Microsoft Money 20014 worked fine with Windows 8. However, having upgraded to Windows 10 the program will not open.  Advises that it required Internet Explorer to function correctly.  Help.

  • Stop logging into Windows 10 with your Microsoft account info.  Instead log in as local machine user account.  MS Money should function as normal.

  • Nope.  That doesn't work.  I'm not using my Microsoft account to log in to my computer, and Microsoft Money STILL doesn't work on Windows 10.  I've updated everything on Windows Update and I've changed the string in the registry.  Still doesn't work.  Are there any other fixes??

  • I see from your post in this thread:

that you are now up and running with Money in Windows 10.  Correct?  What did you do?

How to sign in windows 10 with Local Account.

    </header>

    1. Go to Start, then select Settings > Accounts > Your account.

    2. Select   Sign in with a LOCAL account instead.

    3. Follow the prompts to switch to a local account.

A local account is a user name and password (optional) that you use to sign into a single Windows PC. This is the same type of user account that was used in Vista and Windows 7.

Once completed MS Money will open and function as before.

  • There is a Registry hack involving changing some "version" numbers which worked just fine for me. I forgot which forum I found it in, but it wasn't hard to find. try doing a search on Money Sunset.

  • The registry hack is no longer necessary as M$ has made a change via a recent update.

  • And there are no reports (other than from MSD812) that Money fails to work when logging into Windows 10 with a Microsoft account.  Using a local account does not seem to be necessary.

  • Tried this and MS Money opens, then in about 10 seconds closes due to a error and shuts down Money. Any other ideas?

  • What, exactly, did you try?  To help you with this we need to know:

      - what version of windows are you running?

      - what version of Money?

      - if running Windows 10, have you applied all of the recent Windows updates and rebooted?

      - if running US Money 2007 or Plus, have you replaced your mnyob99.dll file with a patched version as described in the first "sticky" thread in this forum:
