IFD + Windows Authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using on-premise version of CRM which is configured to use IFD + Windows Authentication. And I am working on custom web application which uses default credentials. Could any one have idea about how to use default credentials in mixed mode (IFD & windows Auth). If I use DiscoveryService its working fine with Windows Auth.. but not with IFD login.
Will CrmImpersonate is better idea than DiscoveryService?

  • Hi,

The only way to get a web application working integrated with CRM and sharing the authentication on a IFD deployment is by using CrmImpersonator.

When the users are connecting through the IFD the account running the asp.net code is the IUSR_MachineName (Asp.Net account) which doesn't represents any user on the CRM as it's used for anonymous login. On the SDK you have a interesting example on how to use the CrmImpersonator.

In your case it works when connecting on the local network because in that case the authentication is on Windows Mode so the user is being impersonated and using the Network Credential approach works.

    Hope it helps,

    Marco
