Upgrading MB/CPU/Ram- will XP drivers work on most motherboards that don't have 2003 drivers? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am looking to upgrade my motherboard/cpu/ram for my Windows Home Server. I was originally going to go with a Motherboard/CPU combo deal I saw here.

However, when I look at the drivers available for the chipsets, etc. at the ASUS site, there are no 2003 drivers.

    2 questions:

    1. can anyone confirm whether or not the XP drivers (or any other drivers) for the ASUS M4A785-M motherboard would work on 2003/WHS?

    2. do you have any recommendations similar to the above motherboard that do have 2003 drivers available directly from the manufacturer? I can't seem to find any boards with them.  Would need to be compatible with AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz CPU unless you have a better recommendation for that too.

    My WHS: 2.4 Celeron - 512 MB RAM - 120 GB WD - 320 GB WD - 500 GB Samsung

  • Generally, XP drivers will work on Windows Server 2003, the base OS for Windows Home Server.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
