64 bit Version RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have discovered something I find to be a problem. I have Streets & Trips 2010 and I will not purchase another version until Microsoft make a 64 bit version.

I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit as well as Office 2010 64 bit. If I install Strrets & Trips it runs just fine, but if I try to install any 64 bit Office product after installing Streets & Trips I am told I am running a 32 bit system. I have found the problem to be Streets & Trips, and if you try to get an answer from Microsoft if they are ever going to do a 64 bit version, all one gets is what I refer to as "buck passing". There is never an answer.

So fo me, there is no way I will even consider getting any future versions of Streets & Trips and certainly not going to chance MapPoint.

  • Thats odd but I am not sure about your diagnosis of the problem.  I am running Streets and Trips, Autoroute, and MapPoint alongside Office 2010 on Win 7 Ultimate on a 64-bit machine without any problems.  I had also tried S&T 2011 and had no problems with that either.

So, it seems you need to find another solution to your problem rather than waiting for a 64-bit version of S&T.

  • I am trying to run MapPoint 2011 on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine, alongside Office 2010.

Mappoint will install, but when I try to open it, it just sits on the title page forever. I cannot get to the activiation screen, or anywhere else.

    Got any ideas?

This issue is VERY annoying, we use MapPoint in our business and since we upgraded our machines we are dead in the water.

  • Try KB2643882 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2643882 - it works wonders! ;-)
