MSCRM - a strange query RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    I am facing a prob..
I have two setups.. one test and one development.
Both of these has same development status.

Test environment has data also.. While development has no data..

Is it possible that to move all the data to development , I am thinking to copy test database and paste it on development setup (thereby replacing development database with test database).

Will this also work if there is a difference in customisation status of both development environments.

I don wan to use Data Import tool as it is too time consuming,

If the DB size isn't too big, go with the Data Import option

  • You have to use the Import Organization feature of the Deployment Manager...

Simply overwrite dev databse with test database won't work because there are not the same GUID for users, organization and so on...

    So:
Make a backup of your test environment
Create a new database on your dev SQL with the previous backup
Run Deployment manager on dev server
    Import a new Organization
    Map users

The deployment manager will do the rest...

And you will have the same environment in test and dev

My blog : http://mscrmtools.blogspot.com You will find: Form Javascript Manager (export/import javascript from forms) ISV.Config Manager (graphical ISV.config edition - export/import) View Layout replicator (customize one view and replicate to others) And others (use tool tag on my blog)
