Problems upgrading to CRM 2013

Question
-
I'm attempting to upgrade our Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 to 2013. Our 2011 installation is up to date, but when I run the Server Setup program for 2013 I get the error that I must "Uninstall Microsoft Dynamics CRM Connector for SQL Server Reporting Services before you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server."
I go into Programs and Features on the server but can't find the CRM Connector for SQL Server Reporting Services. The only CRM entries in the program list are "Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011" and "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Reporting Extensions". is the Reporting Extensions entry the one I need to remove?
We had a reseller do our original install. I attempted to consult them on the process (and possibly retain them for assisting), but they never got back to me.

From CRM 2013 IG:
Microsoft Dynamics CRM software and components not supported for in-place upgrade
The following products and solutions are not supported by Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 and will not be upgraded during Microsoft Dynamics CRM Setup. If you upgrade a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 system that includes the product or solution listed below, or you install these components after you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM, these products or solutions may not function correctly. We recommend that you uninstall or manually remove the component before you upgrade.
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Reporting Extensions
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Email Router
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Component for SharePoint Server
- Connector for Microsoft Dynamics
Important
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 is not supported for upgrade. However, you can upgrade Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2011 by using a trial product key, and then upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server 2013. For instructions about how to migrate from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013, see Migrate from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Server.

Hi,
Look for "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Reporting Extensions" in the uninstall program window. If your CRM deployment is spread between 2 servers (app, SQL) you will find it on the SQL box.

I did find that on both the CRM Server and the SQL box. Should it be in both locations? Should I just remove it on the CRM Server?

I did satisfy all the requirements for the update and ran the update on my Development Server.
After completing the update, I installed the Srs Data Connector successfully.
Now when I attempt to access the two organizations upgraded during the process, the last "real basic" organization we set up seems to work fine, the original organization set up by a contractor will not start, it shows a status of "failed."
I tried adding a new organization to the server, and it errors out on the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services indicating that the Reporting Extensions must be installed (even though they successfully installed).
Not sure how to resolve these issues.

Try uninstalling and re-installing the report extensions on the report server again. There may have been an error during the install. I have seen this happen before. Make sure to restart the report server after uninstalling and again after re-installing.
Then in the deployment manager, remove the failed organization and try importing the org again to see if it completes or fails again.
If you continue to see problems with the reporting extensions, you may want to take a look at the install logs to see if there were any errors.

Here's where my ignorance comes through. I have two CRM servers, one Production and one Development, and one dedicated SQL server (with a separate instance for each server). I have done all my work solely on the Development server, haven't touched the Production Server. Both my CRM apps still work on the Production server, so I'm trying to maintain that state during this process.
As I mentioned earlier, we had a contractor help us set up our environment, and I saw the Report Server was installed in all three places (Production, Development, SQL Server). I've only upgraded the copy on the Development server. Can I upgrade the report server on the SQL server that only pertains to the Development CRM without impacting my "still working" CRM 2011 installation on the Production Server?

I updated the Reporting Services on the SQL server to 2013. Both databases converted successfully. I'm still running 2011 on the Production Server, but have the Development Server upgraded to 2013 and working.Friday, January 10, 2014 4:54 PM
