CRM 2011 - Change lookup options for Customer field for Opportunities RRS feed

  • Question

  • In CRM 2011, In the opportunities form, when I click on the Customer field, I can change the views. One of the views that users can select is "inactive accounts". This makes no sense in the opportunity form. So I was wondering if there is a way by which I can remove the views available through the lookup for the customer in the Opportunity form.

    Note: the lookup for the customer is not customizable through configuration in the Opportunity form

  • The only work around that I could find was to deactive the view selector using the following code:

    document.getElementById("customerId").attributes["disableViewPicker"].value = "1";

    It looks like this is a defect in CRM 2011, as you cannot create a new opportunity using an inactive account. So why should you be able to choose an inactive account from within the new opportunity creation form?

  • Hi,

    I think you can hide the specific view of Customer by Deactivating.

    FYI

  • Hi,

    There is a better solution than all of this and one that is completely supported and achieved using only configuration.

    1. Within the Opportunities form (in customization mode), double click on the 'Customer' field.
    2. Scroll down to the bottom section called 'Additional Properties'
    3. In the 'View Selector' option, simply select 'Show Selected Views'
    4. In the section below that displays all the views, simply select the views you wish to make available.

    Alternatively, you can turn off the View Selector and only show the one View.

    Cheers,

    Matt

  • MattTan, unfortunately, the customer field (the one tied to customerid field), is not a regular field and it does not have the "Additional Properties" section. So thats not an alternative. Not sure why that field does not have the "Additional Properties" section.
