I have a pop up box titled Windows Software Protection.
It says - An unauthorized change was made to Windows. Clickable links are - Learn more online or close.
Clicking learn more online opened up my default browser and I lead myself to this forum.

also wanted to ad that before any problems I ran malwarebytes scan, spybot scan, and avast scan. cleaned up just a few things and I was opted with a avast pre-windows scan (cant recall the name) but itscanned before windows was opened. now I have a white background with the box i described above and nothing else. no desktop no start button etc etc.Monday, May 30, 2011 4:44 PM

As I said in the sticky -MSEAvira Anti-VirAVGall freeThere are many good paid-for AV's - but please avoid the 'Suites' as most tend to usurp control of your PC from you. I would also avoid McAfee and Norton (at any price!).
