i updated the bio, i noted on the screen sticker it says dv9000, but the bio says it is not compatible, so i checked the model again and the keyboard sticker says it is dv9720us, so i updated from F25 from 2007-11-29to F34 from 2011-3-22. and reentered the vista key on the back, i noticed i have entered one letter incorrect, i mistakenly read B as 8, then everything went through.

BIOS valid for OA 2.0: no, invalid SLIC table
For some reason, your computer is unable to properly read the SLIC table in the BIOS – Carey’s suggestion may resolve it (but it’s not likely, as generally public BIOS updates are not Windows-version-specific)If not, then you need to change the Product Key to the one on your COA sticker on the machine’s case. To do this, go to the System Properties page, and at the bottom, use the Change Product Key link – follow the instructions, and activate by telephone.

i used the windows vista licence key on the sticker, it did not help. let me try the bio updates, to see if it works...
mostly likely i entered the key with one letter B, which i mistakenly entered as 8, later i checked i updated bio and reentered the vista licence key on the back of my laptop, and all is working (i mean windows vista validation through)... thankss....

‘did not help’ isn’t very descriptive – what EXACTLY happened when you tried?

Sometimes updating the BIOS can re-write the SLIC table so that it’s not longer compliant (or even present). This is why every OEM-installed machine also comes with a unique Key that uses the conventional activation methods, and for Vista and WIn7, the OS includes the capability to easily change the Key.Your report shows everything being OK – but to clear the last error message, you need to visit the Validation page to re-validate the installation – www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate
