Business Unit or Separate Organization

Question
-
Hi there,
Our organization have 4 different affiliate office accross the globe(US,UK, Italy,China) and we have a requirement to create an CRM application which will be totally isolated from our existing crm. Now organization want it to be either in same organization and different business unit for each affiliate or whole different organiation for each affiliate.
As there will be no same data between any 2 affiliate and there will be no data sharing. And there will be users who will need access to all the data from all the 4 systems.
According to my understanding, BU are just virtual separation between data related to them but data is saved to same backend tables. And based on user credentials data is viewed. And if someone have higher privilages, he/she can view all the data.
Can someone tell me any link/website/blog which can explain me the different between BU and organization so that i can decide about which way to go? BU or separate organization for each affiliate?

Here is a good video tutorial from John O'Donnell on security and business units. There is also some really good information on the CRM Resource Center. Here is one link for reference.

One other consideration you haven't mentioned it whether the different office store different information / have different work processes. If you use business units, you are essentially forced to have everyone use exactly the same system. With separate organisations, each one can be customised to meet local requirements.
