  • Hello gsbauer,

I'm see two problems in your Diagnostic Report.

    1)  There are a number of protected system files that Windows has detected as having been modified in some way.

    File Scan Data-->
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\Slsvc.exe[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\Spsys.sys[6.0.5840.16389], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\Slcext.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\netplwiz.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\apphelp.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\shunimpl.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\devmgr.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\windowscodecs.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\ntshrui.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\shdocvw.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\msi.dll[4.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\puiapi.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\hlink.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\msoert2.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\efsadu.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\query.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\rpchttp.dll[6.0.6000.16386], Hr = 0x800b0100

While these files could have been 'modified' by becoming corrupt (from a hard drive problem) or damaged (from Malware), these particular files are Protected system files and Windows assumes that any modification of these files is a direct attack to compromise it's Licensing or Activation systems.

    2) Licensing Data-->
Software Licensing service is not running.

By itself this would cause a Non-Genuine error because Windows uses the Software Licensing service to periodically check itself to confirm it's still Genuine.  However, in this case, since Slsvc.exe is the file that runs the Software Licensing service and since Slsvc.exe is one of the files that is listed has having been modified, it's likely the issue #1 is also the cause of issue #2. So, the first thing to do is resolve issue #1 and hopefully that will resolve #2.

To repair modified files, give the below steps a try

    a. System Scan. The scan will look for bad Windows files and will attempt to repair them, if possible.

    1) Click the Start Button
    2) Type: cmd.exe
    3) Right-click the cmd.exe file and select 'Run as Administrator'
    4) In the CMD window, type: sfc /scannow
    5) Reboot and see if that resolves the issue.

    b. Repairing Windows using System Restore:

    1) Click the Start button
    2) In the Start Search field, type: System Restore and hit “Enter”
    3) Select "Choose Different Restore Point", Put a check in the box that says "Show restore points older than 5 days", select the restore point that corresponds to the date Before you first noticed the issue.
    4) Click the "Next" button.
    5) Reboot and see if that resolves the issue.

If none of these resolves the issue, then the next step would be to either contact Microsoft Assisted Support (at one of the below URLs) or to backup all your important files and reinstall Windows.

    Outside North America:

    Thank you,
