I am having the exact same issue!! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling about a dozen times now, to no avail. I noticed in my control panel/uninstall that there is a windows live messenger icon that looks like a piece of paper that never uninstalls. I read on a forum somewhere that adobe flash player may cause compatibility issues so I uninstalled it, and then when I went to reinstall it I can't because messenger is "open"!! Yet I haven't been able to sign in or uninstall messenger for a week! Now I have no flash player either! PLeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help with this, for the love of god!!! This is so annoying. How do I uninstall messenger?? I'm fine with never using it again after all this BS but the stupid thing won't uninstall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Monday, August 9, 2010 5:28 AM

I was having a similar issue as well. I tried to repair windows live with the repair option and it crashed my new Windows 7 pro. Destroyed the bootmgr, not sure what that had to do with anything messenger. Now i cant even download Messenger. Ive reinstalled windows and tried downloading on both IE and Google Chrome, only to have it stop near the end and not continue. This is a joke, the programming sucks and the only thing keeping me coming to windows the the sharp new windows 7, which is going the way of Vista if you ask me. I want this fixed, i dont care if it is freeware. You should never put anything with faulty programming on the internet. Cant wait till the Japanese come up with something better. Got my fingers crossed. In need of a new OS.Wednesday, August 18, 2010 2:50 PM
