  • Hi Patty,

Don't worry, you don't need to be 'computer smart'. We will walk you thru the process of getting the infomation we need to help you with your computer.

First off, download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, click the Copy button, then come back to this thread and click the Reply button. Now click the icon that looks like a Clipboard (it should be right under the word "Message:")

Step 2 is tell us about the Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Tell us:
    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

    Thank you,
