direct 11X installation

  i play many games it is recommended i install direct x   

  when i downloaded  direct x 11  it downloaded direct x technology update us media audio file and direct  technology update us office powerpoint

  my questions are  do i need both and is it safe to run both

  i have windows 7 and no existing direct x installations
