Errors when running Outlook CRM 4.0 client

Question

Hi
This is really making me tear my hair out ... could someone please help me.
We have installed Rollup 7. All is fine except for the following:
Error regarding Timezone
Occasionally Outlook reports an addin crash when exiting. When you start up again it sits waiting for about 30 secs at Updating Timezone. Then in the event viewer the following error is there.
The Microsoft CRM Outlook add-in was not initialized because the user's time zone could not be updated. Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again. HR=0x80131509. Context=. Function=CAddin::HrActivateAddin. Line=635.
The second problem I have is with synch by the client to send any pending CRM mail out. The following is the event viewer error:
An error occurred retrieving data from the Microsoft CRM server for processing pending Microsoft CRM e-mail messages. Verify that the current user has appropriate permissions and server connectivity and try the action again.
Lastly
An error occurred while promoting a Microsoft CRM e-mail message. Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again. HR=0x80131509. Context=. Function=CMailItemHelper::HrPromoteMailItemInCrm. Line=1637.
Please assist me.

It can be several problems with Outlook clients but it's easy to validate it:
1. User privilidges (custom security role and edited buildin role) to make sure give temporary system admin role for this user
2. Installation issue (run a diagrostics, try to reinstall outlook client, check if problems appearing on other workstations, install latest UR, last it would be uninstall and clean all folders, registry entries to MS CRM outlook client and install once again
3.Interferencing with other Outlook Add-Ons (Cisco MeetingPlace,Antivirus software etc.)
You may find more information about this error in
1.Application Log in Event Viewer
2.MSCRM log folder in C:\Users\AppData\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs

Hi Jay again,
Check if you have rights "Read" permission to "Core Records->Saved View".
My Dynamics CRM Blog: http://bovoweb.blogspot.comTuesday, December 8, 2009 9:40 PM -
Hi there - I am getting the same error on one machine - and the PC concerned is running slowly and driving us mad - the users role in this instance is set to 'Administrator' and it makes no difference - the "Read" permission to "Core Records->Saved View" is set to the default 'user' for sys admins...
Any other ideas people? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked this and permissions are set to READ for the Core Record > Saved View setting. I am also a member of the Domain Admin group for AD. In CRM my security role is CEO and Customizer.

Hi jay,
I assume that you are not using IFD. your deployment is local. (LAN)
Also let me know is this issue is specific to your laptop or on all client systems you people are facing this issue.
also try to enter url with ip of crm server like http:// <ip of crm server>
and also check the time zone of crm server and your laptop.

Hi Jameel,
Is there any chance you may be able to assist me too? I am going mad here trying to figure this one out and I have trawled the forums looking for an answer and this is the closest post to the issue I am having..?Thursday, December 10, 2009 4:59 AM -
Hi Murray,
Why not Please go ahead and let me know the complete details of your Issue.

Hi there Jameel - thank you for your assistance... I am trying to sort a colleagues 'client' PC at work - his event viewer is full of the error listed below.
He is running XP Pro, CRM 4.0, CRM for Outlook client rollup 7 has been installed. We have 10 other machines on the network without this issue?
The users role in this instance is set to 'Administrator' and it makes no difference if I set it to anything else - so I am thinking that this rules out the read persmissions issue that you were suggesting for above - the "Read" permission to "Core Records->Saved View" is set to the default 'user' for sys admins which is everything on...

jameel - I am not sure what else you need to know?Thursday, December 10, 2009 5:53 AM -
Hi Murray,
I assume that you installed the Rollup 7 on CRM server and also on your Colleague's PC (XP) with out any error.
this problem mainly occurs if you do not have a role that has user-level read access to the following entities:
Queues, Contacts , Accounts ,Leads.
But As you mentioned that User Role set to 'System Administrator' in CRM, So permission is not an issue.
Please let me know is this for all emails or some specific. if for some specific please verify the email form feild's
like "subject" line and "to address" etc there should not be any special character.

Hi jameel - Ok thanks I will look into it... Not sure if it is just one email that is stuck and constantly throwing up the error or multiple emails - I will investigate and get back to you.. :) Thank you.Thursday, December 10, 2009 8:02 AM

Hi Jameel - Sorry I forgot to directly answer your last question - yes I did install Rollup 7 on CRM server and also on my Colleague's PC - I have had a look, but to be honest I have no idea where to start looking for one email out of 1400 emails on his pc? How do I find out which one could be causing this? Any ideas - I am at a loss..Sunday, December 13, 2009 2:46 AM

Hi Murray,
There are different ways to verify. but in simple just check the email activities.
Workplace >> Activities>>
In Type dropdown select E-mails
In View dropdown select My pending E-mails
if there are pending emails, Open one of them and check the status.

Hi Jameel,
Thanks for that - another bit of CRM I didn't know about!!
I went and had a look at his pending emails and there was just one in there from the administrator which was just sitting there?? I deleted it but it has not made any difference to the error rate in event viewer though? Where to from here?
Would a reinstall of the outlook client sort it do you think?
regards,

Hi,
I had the error HR=0x80131509 for some mails when I tried to track them in CRM 4:
Event Source: MSCRMAddin
Event ID: 5983
Description:
An error occurred while promoting a Microsoft CRM e-mail message. Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again. HR=0x80131509. Context=. Function=CMailItemHelper::HrPromoteMailItemInCrm. Line=1359.I was able to reproduce the issue on different machines. During investigation I found that tracking didn't work for emails more or equal 7 Mb size. Using this information I went to web.config on CRM server, set both maxRequestLength values to 16384 and restarted IIS. That worked like a charm.
Best regards,
