Question

See what happened was I have this horrible OCZ Vertex 1 that is bugging out. So after multiple attempts to install it and see if it works I gave up and remove the damn thing.
So after that I reinstalled a fresh copy of window 7 from the same key same cd as I always do and get the code:0xC004E003 and couldn't do it by phone cause the option of "Show me other ways to activate windows" is not even on the thing.

Thanks for the Bowdlerising :)
I try and stay neutral all the time - which is why I phrased my first response the way I did (note the 'If's'). MAK Keys are 99.9% Business use, and 0.1% other use - of which only some is from the Launch parties. Each MAK Key has its own set of licensing rules set at time of purchase/release. The Launch Party Keys were limited in a lot of respects, but I don't know the details, apart from the fact that at least some had to be activated within a certain period of time. Whether they can still be re-activated on identical or different hardware I have no idea.
Something around 50% of illegal downloaded software also contains malware of some description - so I advise against trying it. Most hacker's tools for circumventing activation requirements willl be broken sooner rather than later, and risk introducing other/further malware.
MAK Keys are by definition Upgrades. Upgrades require a valid OS to upgrade from. On OEM-built machines this can be proved by the SLIC table or the COA sticker on the case. On Retail motherboards, you are supposed to install a qualifying OS, and then upgrade that.

The Product Key you are using is an MAP (Multiple Activation Key) which is ONLY sold to organisations for use on their own machines. If you are not a member of such an organisation, then you were sold a counterfeit. If you are a member of such an organisation, you should contact your System Admin.

Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed SlothOk so how do I do that?
I remember during the launch of window 7 Microsoft did a lot of monkey promotions like, free Window 7 if you buy this ticket to their launch thingy and they give you a free key. So I got this key through that shinanagan thing that microsoft did. So who would I call? What do I do? I find it much easier to just download the pirated version of window 7 and use it... Cause this thing is getting out of hand. I paid 50 bucks for that damn launch event crap and now you are telling me its a counterfeit? Microsoft is getting really hard to d#&@ ride now a days. I can't even f&#(en proudly say that I have a legit Window 7 anymore.
(Oh yeah this could also be a key where they give me a free Window 7 copy if I am in the CSULB engineering. I dunno. I have a lot of it because people were just throwing keys left and right at school and at the event.)
SO what do I do? Should I just say f&#$ it and download a cracked version to save myself all this hassle? I mean.... its not my fault Microsoft likes to make it harder on its users...
I turned off all the profanity. =]- Edited by tenderlovin Wednesday, October 19, 2011 9:34 PM

Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed SlothOh yeah they also have an 29.99 special if you have edu account. That too. And also they sell it at my school for 29.99... and this key could also be it. Can you actually provide me with more informative data that tells me what my key is really is? I don't need you to be all smug and condescending about how...

BTW: If I am using a shady key then I would be aware of that and wouldn't give two s%^& about its authenticity. Can you say Apple is better? Less of the profanity, please!
A lot of the copies of WIndows that were handed out during the lauch period were limited-activation MAK's.(sorry about the MAK/MAP typo above!) - as should have been explained to yu at teh time (but probably got lost in amongst all the fun stuff)
Most of them if I remember right, had to be activated within 180days of launch, and the presiding 'club' then closed its doors, and any remaining unused Keys were deactived.
MAK Keys are by definition Upgrades. Your system appears to be based on a retail motherboard, so would require a previous version of Windows to be installed.
You could try ringing the Volume Activation assistance people - most areas have freephone numbers....

So where
can I get the number to the "Volume Activation assistance people"
I tried clicking on the link but it brought me back here....
Sorry I was really emotional when I saw the word "counterfeit" and being associated with (my first hand built computer built by me) and was really heated lol."Most of them if I remember right, had to be activated within 180days of launch, and the presiding 'club' then closed its doors, and any remaining unused Keys were deactived."
I've been using this thing for over 2 years... the only reason I had this problem was my SSD drive was acting up on me and I just got rid of it all together.
BTW- NEVER BUY OCZ's Vertex 1 series. The 37gig. That thing is just garbage... I only use it for my OS and a bad sector just prevents it from booting after like 6 months of use... horrible ssd.Your system appears to be based on a retail motherboard, so would require a previous version of Windows to be installed.
This system is built by me... from the ground up. My mother board is the ASRock G41m-LE I got it off of Newegg... and I picked it because of this article right here.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-2-overclock,2310-3.html I built it accordingly to them... except for the SSD part (horrible horrible idea) I only use the motherboard and CPU that they were using lol...
Edit: And stop assuming everyone here is trying to take advantage of Microsoft or something. Not everyone here is using pirated illegal copies or whatever you want to call it. The amount of time I spent trying to fix this I can just download the cracked version... actually I'm already doing this right now... testing to see what takes longer... the proper way or the cracked way. (Downloading the cracked version of Window 7 Ultimate) So far I'm sliding toward the illegal method lol... *hoping that I don't get a virus*- Edited by tenderlovin Wednesday, October 19, 2011 9:51 PM

I'll ignore the irrlevant stuff for the moment.....
blasted NNTP Bridge must be playing up again - my sent message has the proper link, but the one above was broken.
use this one....

which should work (I'll repair the other one in a tick).

I tried calling the volume people and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was constantly put on hold and each time they have to ask me to either read them the error code or read them my cd key. And at the end they always come up with some conclusion that I needed to be transferred to somewhere (they had very thick Indian accents so its really hard to understand. I kept wishing that they would transfer me to an American call center lol) and I got disconnected twice.
Anyways after an hour something close to 2 hours of being put on hold and trying to understand what they're saying to me. I heard the guy say "something something something apply complementary Window 7 something something." I thought this is a way to deactivate my old key and get a new one. Well its not. I have to send in the receipt and key and all that stuff (which I don't have its been almost 2 years since I got this and it has to act up now) All I have is the cd key that I wrote onto the cd that I burned, where I got the program to download from some website that was sent to my email which is through the school. Pretty much they did not even offer me a solid solution. Or maybe its the communication barrier... whatever the case I'm gonna call them back again tomorrow cause if I talk to those guys anymore today I'm just gonna kill myself.

They are usually pretty proficient – but it sounds as if you got pushed into the Piracy reporting queue.I can appreciate your communications problems. When you call back, ask to speak to a supervisor – they are usually better-equipped to handle non-standard queries ( they are not reading off a script all the time).
