  • Fix-It Will Not Install, It Returns The System Error "The program can't start because its.dll is missing from the computer.

I downloaded 3 of the fix-it tools Mats_Run.winfilefolder.exe, Mats_Run.ieaddon.exe, Mats_Run.IEperformance.exe. All of them gave the same error every time I tried to install them.

I have Win 7 Home Premium (64 Bit), I rebooted but it did no good.

Any help you can give will be appreciated.

    Thanks, Rich

  • Yan Jun, Thank You for your help.

Your question is right on the money.

-"error message is "its.dll" but is not "Lts.dll" has missing?"

Your absolutely correct, I think it is actually "Lts.dll".  I thought the first letter was an upper case i.

            Thanks, Rich

  • Thanks Yan Jun,

I tried your recommendation. I found only one folder named mats-temp. I deleted it. Additionally there were a few Mats  .exe files.

I tried the fix-it again programs but I got the same error that I did before.

I'm not sure what to do now.

    Thanks, Rich

  • Yan,

Thanks for your direction and sorry it's taken me so long to reply.

I was really confused by your last question above re: installing the Fix It Center.

I looked in my program files for the Microsoft fix it center folder and found none.

I kept trying to install the MATS_Run.ieperformance.exe program to no avail. I went to my wife's Vista laptop & was successful in running this program. I waited till today when my daughter brought her Win 7 laptop & was able to run it on hers. I looked on her laptop for Lts.dll but didn't find it.

Finally I googled "Microsoft Fix It Center" and found, as you already know, that there is a single program that contains all the sub programs. Instead I was going to this location http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ where they list individual programs. THESE are the ones I couldn't get to run correctly.

I have downloaded Microsoft Fix It Center & it runs fine. Additionally since it installed Lts.dll the individual programs run as well.

Yan, Thaks for your help. You solved another one!

    Thanks, Rich

  • I'm having the same problem installing Mats_Run.WindowsUpdate.exe with Windows 7 Professional x64.  I have not installed Fix It Center before -- Windows had problems installing 2 updates, gave me error 80080005 and suggested I install and run Fix It.  I clicked the link, it downloaded the above file, and I got this error when trying to install it.

I had exactly the same problem with W7 Ultimate x64. I could not apply the fix because of missing lts.dll.

Problem resolved when I found the missing dll from some obscure temp folder (used Agent Ransack to find it) and copied it to C:\Windows\System32.

    Hope this helps,

  • Yan Jun,

I'm having the lts.dll error issue and have done what you said to do (delete the mats items in temp folder) and still get the lts.dll error when running FIX IT.

I googled "Microsoft Fix it Center" and got to this page

    http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/Portal/GetStarted

But when I try to download it, i get the message

"Thank you for your interest in Fix it Center. Our goal was to have an equal number of beta users running Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. The Windows 7 goal has now been met and the Fix it Center Beta for Windows 7 users is now officially closed. If you are running Windows XP or Windows Vista you may continue to participate in the Fix it Center Beta. "

So, it tells me to download from here

    http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/

For the specific issue that i'm having, i'm trying to download

    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/

But its the same file that I'm downloading from

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2410180

Which is where my problems are starting (I just got a new windows 7 phone and it won't install on my desktop - installed fine on my laptop, though).

I don't know where to go from here. I went so far as to even create a new account on my desktop in windows and did a clean install of zune to no avail.

I am desperate to get my phone on my desktop as that is where all of my media files are. I am in love with my new phone but this is starting to become a  freaking pain in the ...you know what!

  • It's been a couple of weeks since you posted. Have you solved your problem?  I'm having the same problem and was hoping to find an answer here.  So far, no luck.

  • Unfortunately it's not possible to download Microsoft Fix It Centre any more as the trial has expired for Windows 7 users.

Is there somewhere else I can get this Lts.dll file from? I've tried asking Microsoft answers but haven't had any response as yet.

This is a very annoying error!

    Thanks for your help

  • A couple of observations:

    1. I get LTS.DLL error on both Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows XP Home.

    2. I have download some of these 'fix it' files last summer and they work fine.

So is this really a PC issue or a Microsoft issue?

  • I have the same problem, I'm using windows 7 home premium. Trying to do the microsoft fix it, but it said lts.dll is missing. I read the above posts, and you guys said to download "fix it center", however, that is not possible, since it's closed. so is this a microsoft problem? It doesn't look like a problem with my computer.

  • Hi all !

About Fix It Center, the file lts.dll is not installed on your computer because you never installed the first beta, which was downloadable on 2010. The beta program had to install the FixIt Center on the computer. So the file lts.dll should be on your hard drive...

But now, and possibly because of a fail install of the Win7 SP1, you were searching for a response or solution. So you downloaded the MATS.FixIt program that is just a little update for the beta one.

Now, the beta program for 7 users is closed. And now you can't diag the fail install...

MS must delete the topic with this MATS update, because it can't works correctly...

  • I had the same problem. The old 550 Kb files ran OK, but the new 750 Kb files didn't. Playing around with dll files didn't work. I finally found out how to dowload the Mr Fix It Download Centre - beta (the one that no longer exists for W7).

Once this is downloaded it will automatically download all the Fix It files that suit your computer. Go to

    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fixitcenter/thread/3d1bc27a-525f-4422-9d51-0fab72484d6c

Go to the botttom of the list and choose your OS and then go to that web page and dowload the installer.

    eg. W7 64 bit is:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=186431,fixitcenter_setup_x64.msi

It takes a while to get started and installs slowly (doesn't appear to be doing anything) - takes about 20 mins so don't panic

Program will be accessed from program files where the list of Mr fix Its can be run

  • I had a similar problem and downloaded the Fix-It Center and installed it on my computer; however, it will not run because it requires a passkey that is supposed to be provided by a support professional.

Please advise how I obtain one of these.

    Thank you.
