C# .net 2.0 certification RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm working on C# .net 2.0 for the past 1 year and I'm good in understanding concepts quickly. I'm planning to take up the MCTS foundation certification as it is appropriate for the technology am working currently:

    070-536  (application development foundation)

How long will it take for completion of this foundation certification?
If I am planning to take up an additional MCTS certification over the foundation how long will that take?

When will the certifications for .net 2.0 framework expire/retire?

Do I have to start with .net 3.5 certification exams?

  • Hi Sandhya,

Great to hear you are taking up certification.

70-536 is the foundation courses for both 2.0 and 3.5 framework, so you can decide what MCTS you would like to do after this exam.

If you are mainly doing 2.0 work I would do the 2.0 exams these cover a lot of useful information not in the 3.5 exams.

The exam retires when the support for the product retires.  The certificates do not actually expire.

The length of time these exams take to prepare for really depends on you, how much experience you have and how easy you find it to learn.  70-536 is probably the hardest of the technical .Net exams, so do not judge the general difficulty by this exam.

    Best of luck,
