Office XP Small Business 2002 suddenly won't pass validation RRS feed

  • Question

  • This software has been with this computer since new in 2002 and always in my possession in my home. I'm suddenly (since late last week) getting messages that Office needs to be activated in order to be validated. Attempts to activate give me message "already activated." "Didn't pass validation" message keeps coming on. I removed Office and reloaded - no change. I have product key - never been out of my possession. My operating system is Windows XP. I re-installed operating system and all software about a year ago when hard drive bombed, but no Office problems afterwards.

    Carey Frisch:

Please clarify your earlier response. I only saw "Method 2." What was "Method 1? How do I repair corrupted files? Are my browser ActiveX settings to blame? Could my Norton AntiVirus setting be interfering?

    Help.

    10/4/09

The Method 2 procedure in support.microsoft.com/kb/903275 fixed my problem! Thank you for your help - sorry for the delay in reporting this information.

  • Hello Joe Dugan,

Carey's repsonse is actually a link to this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275

Please scroll down to the Method 2 section of the above article.  You can try the new "FixIt" wizard or you can manually follow the instructions--they work about 99.9% of the time fixing the issue that you are experiencing.

Post back to let us know if it worked for you :-)
