Boot XP from USB HD

  I clone my main HD to USB HD and I can boot from the USB HD  only in "safe mode", I contact the ventor of the clone s/w and they told me: windows can't boot properly from external disk? basicly I am quite glad because the idea was to have a external drive with o/s with my programs and my back up, finaly somehow works but I wish to be able to boot in normal mode and not in safe mode, except that I wish dear Santa to set up my external usb disk as Hot Swap Disk... I can figure it out... and I think it's possible to do that, so this christmas send me  a link to let me know how to do that :)
