  • Hi there,

I would try the following stsadm command to start with, this was the command for 2007 but this should also work for 2010:

To run this open command prompt on the server running Central Administration and navigate to the following directory: cd %commonprogramfiles%\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\14\Bin then type the command below with the new password:

stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin DomainName\UserName -password NewPassword

This should get Central Admin backup and running and also the services, once Central admin is accessible or if it is currently accessible you can update all other passwords / accounts from the Security > Configure Managed Accounts page.

    I hope that helps

  • stsadmin command for to update the farm creadentials should work as Paul suggested.

There is a good article from MS Support which lists down services which you can check if you need to update the password.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934838

Once you change the password, verify the services on server in CA & make sure all are running. for project server 2010,You will need to check the below services:
    1. Microsoft project server 2010 queue services
    2. Microsoft project server 2010 Event services

    Hope that helps.
