Video Conf fails between VPN users RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have been using OCS 2007 for about 6 months in production for users on the same LAN and users on VPN connections.  There is no port or traffic filtering between the company PC on the VPN and our LAN.

I am able to start a Video conference between a VPN user and a LAN user.  However, I cannot start a video conference between two VPN users.

What would be the cause of this?

  • Do you mean a video call between two users?

2 party video call is peer to peer

Can you ping vpn client 1 to vpn client 2?

Try to schedule an Audio conference from outlook add-in and join the conference from both clients

Then all traffic routes trough the AV Server

  • I have seen this behavior before as well.  The cause was that the VPN device was not a router and would not route packets between two VPN connected clients.

  • This was exactly the problem.  I was not aware that Video was peer-to-peer.  We did not have a fully meshed VPN network. I have since changed our VPN networked to meshed and Video conferencing between VPN users is not working.

Thank you for the help.  I hope this post can help others with similar issues.
