CRM 2013: Server-side sync - time and functionality

  Hi All,

  Can anyone tell me if CRM 2013 server side sync is asynchronous? If so, what is the minimum time between sync's? Ideally, we would like it to be synchronous.

  Also, once an item is tracked in CRM (say an appointment, or email) how can that user view the CRM record from without CRM for Outlook installed? with CRM 2011 they would click on the 'View in CRM' button which would open the CRM record. However, with Server-side sync how would the user open an appointment or email in CRM (from Outlook) to create connections to other records?
