How to access data in Dynamics CRM 2013? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm a developer and I can't access the database Dynamics CRM 2013.

I've installed the developer toolkit for Visual Studio 2012, and got access to the server and login successfully.

I need to make queries the database, enter new contacts, new accounts, etc...

    Please help me.

  • Is this on-premises or online?  If online, not possible.

CRM has a SQL server database [your tenant]_mscrm and you can connect to it using standard tooling to write queries, however you must not insert or update data directly.  That would be an unsupported modification.

What exactly are you trying to do?  If data import, there are dozens of supported ways to do this.

  • In order to make data transactions with CRM you need to call CRM Service.

Go to Settings > Customizations > Developer Tools and check the Service Address.

You can check for a few samples on the CRM SDK, you have a few diferent ways to connect to CRM depending on what you want to do amd how you want to  do it.

It looks a bit confusing, but when you start seeing some code is pretty simple.
