Is Advertising now allowed on MSDN Forums? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I have been away from MSDN forums for a while, and recently thought I might give them another go.

    I posted a reply on this therad http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exceldev/thread/12af443c-4c45-42bb-887b-3ee0669c56a9 and received a reply from a Microsoft employee that included an ad in the signature line.

    I thought that advertising was specifically banned from these Forums. At the moment I can only find the guidelines for the asp.net forum here http://forums.asp.net/t/1180041.aspx, but it looks pretty clear to me;

    Account Signature Guidelines

    Within your account profile, you have the opportunity to specify a short "signature" that will appear at the bottom of each of your forum posts.  The guidelines for this signature area are:

    • No Advertising
    • No affiliate links
    • 2 link maximum (to on-topic ASP.NET related content only)
    • 256 characters or less in length
    What is the Microsoft policy on advertising in the MSDN Forums? Is it ok to include ads in the signature line? Can everyone do this, or is it limited to MSFT employees?
