Subject : Windows Vista Auto Update Product Key Activation Error
Problem Description: In using the automated Windows Update feature for Windows Vista Home Premium OEM, I run into a problem. I believe the update it was attempting to install was Service Pack 1.
When I input the Product Key from the sticker on the laptop, I get an error saying 'The Windows Vista key you typed is invalid for activation'. I know the Product Key is correct.
Now, I am only able to 'Access [my] computer with reduced functionality'. I've attempted the automated phone system twice and a live representative and still cannot activate the system.
I also tried the fix described at http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/genuinevista/thread/c9340e5d-7efb-4edd-b256-defa6b997062/
When I enter the slui.exe 3 command, the error message is 'Not enough quota is available to process this command' and the system won't allow me to follow the instructions any further. After trying multiple times, this outcome always occurs.
The laptop was purchased at Best Buy and is a Sony Vaio Model PCG-3A4L [VGN-FZ320E] stock system.
Operating System: Windows Vista

Re: SRX1127600865ID - Windows Vista Auto Update Product Key Activation Error
Dear Raghavendra,
The link Swati included below i[s] not functioning (http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9685406) as when I try to submit the form I get an error.
I followed Swati's instructions by contacting the OEM's site and found a possible cause for the issue at http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-info.pl?info_id=352 .
After following Sony's instructions and trying to install the SP1 update, I continue to receive the error ''Not enough quota is available to process this command' and the system will not execute the download.
What next step(s) do you suggest?
Thanks in advance,
[ramald01]

Thanks in advance to anyone with a suggestion for me!!

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.
If you do not have access to the Start Button:
1) Login to Vista and click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.
2) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.
3) A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”
4) When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.
5) Return to this thread http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinevista/thread/DD329EC9-37A3-4A2C-8076-A6C8E8F648AC.
6) In a reply post, paste the Diagnostic Report.
Thank you,
