What does the 'N' mean? RRS feed

  • What is the difference in the Window 7 (x64) download packages described as

    en_windows_7_ultimate_n_x64_dvd_x16-13641

    en_windows_7_ultimate_x64_dvd_x15-65922

    as in " Windows 7 Ultimate N" vs " Windows 7 Ultimate"

    even if that is a Windows 7 and not forum issue related question. N version is without Windows Media Player.

  • Thank you for the information. I only joined msdn this week and  was checking out the downloadables. Does not seem to be a way to ask question directly to MS, they never pick up email and phone lines are a joke.  The download descriptions really do not describe anything useful.

    Note that the same replies still apply. "N" versions do not include Windows Media Player. See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-to-n.

    It's also still true that this group isn't for technical questions on Microsoft products. It covers forum issues.
